Man’s body found in Connecticut River/Black Hall River area

Old Lyme ― A man’s body was pulled from the water in the area of the Connecticut and Black Hall rivers on Monday, according to a state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spokesperson.

The man’s body was recovered by the Old Saybrook Fire Department, which had launched a boat and joined with boats from the Old Saybrook Police Department, Old Lyme Fire Department and DEEP to search the area to ensure no one else was in the water, Old Saybrook Fire Chief Joe Johnson said.

Johnson referred further questions to DEEP and state police. State police said there is an ongoing investigation into “a suspicious incident in Old Lyme,” but provided no further details early Tuesday.

The Black Hall River empties into the mouth of the Connecticut River.

    This is a developing story.
