Old Saybrook ― Four people were hospitalized on Monday when a 38-foot cigarette boat collided with a breakwall.

The crash occurred at 9:45 p.m. at the Old Saybrook east breakwater in Long Island Sound, according to Paul Copleman, a spokesman with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP’s EnCon Police responded with the U.S. Coast Guard, and Old Saybrook fire and police departments.

All four boat occupants were taken for treatment, DEEP said. The accident is under investigation and DEEP provided no further information.
