Snapped pole closes Jefferson Avenue in New London

New London ― A snapped utility pole on Monday closed a portion of Jefferson Avenue in the area of New London High School.

The broken pole was discovered before noon on Monday in the area of Boulder Drive. Traffic is being diverted around that area of Jefferson Avenue, which is between Colman and Chester streets.

Crews from Eversource, called in to make repairs, remained at the scene at 2:10 p.m. Eversource reports no power outages as a result of the damaged pole. It is unclear how the pole was damaged but there were high winds in the region today.
