    Branford Police Incident Report for May 31

    The Sound publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Branford and North Branford. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content. Tuesday, May 31Senior correspondent Jason J. Marchi compiles the Police Incident Report.

    • A 33 year-old West Haven man was arrested at 10 a.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, larceny in the fifth degree, conspiracy to commit burglary and larceny, engaging in pursuit, and operating a motor vehicle while under license suspension.

    • A 31 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 12:30 p.m. and charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, and larceny in the fifth degree.

    • A 25 year-old Bridgeport man was arrested at 1:21 p.m. and charged with breach of peace and violation of a restraining order.

    • From May 25 to 31 Branford police also issued 21 citations to motorists for using a hand-held cell phone while operating a motor vehicle, eight citations for failure to obey a control signal, seven citations for failure to wear a seat belt in the front seat, four citations for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license, three citations for failure to obey a stop sign, three citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, two citations for traveling unreasonably fast, and two citations for failure to return license or registration. One citation was issued for each of the following: traveling too fast for conditions; excess noise level; failure to drive a reasonable distance apart; failure to maintain the proper lane; failure to drive right.
