    Essex Police Incident Report for Aug. 15 to 21

    The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

    Wednesday, Aug. 15

    • No arrests were made.

    • A 70 year-old Fairfield man was issued a written warning at 10:39 a.m. for failure to drive in the proper lane of a multiple lane highway after he veered into a wire rope guardrail while operating a 2011 Toyota. The accused stated he did not know what happened. A witness state it was as if the man fell asleep. The operator was transported to an area clinic for observation and evaluation. No injuries were reported at the scene.

    Thursday, Aug. 16

    • No arrests were made.

    • An 18 year-old Cromwell man was issued a citation at 12:04 a.m. for traveling unreasonably fast, failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway, and failure to carry a driver’s license after he lost control of the 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser he was operating eastbound on Main Street at the intersection of Walnut Street and struck a residential mailbox at #147 Main Street. No injuries were reported at the scene.

    • A burglary was investigated on Farm Lane by Trooper Richard Mulhall at 7:02 p.m. No details of the burglary were available at press time.

    Friday, Aug. 17 - Monday, Aug. 20

    • No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

    Tuesday, Aug. 21

    • No arrests were made.

    • At 8:11 p.m. Trooper Richard Mulhall investigated a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Bracket Lane and Main Street. A 49 year-old woman of Mitchel Terrace was operating a 2008 Mazda CX9 through the intersection when she made minor contact with a 41 year-old woman of Comstock Avenue in Ivoryton who was crossing on foot. The pedestrian complained of pain in her left arm and went to the Middlesex Shoreline Clinic to have her arm evaluated. No enforcement action was indicated in the report.

    • A 45 year-old New London man was issued a citation at 9:39 p.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway after the 2000 Honda Civic he was operating drifted to the right and struck a wire rope guard rail. No injuries were reported at the scene.
