    Essex Police Incident Report for Nov. 9 to 13

    The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

    Friday, Nov. 9

    • No arrests were made.

    • A motor vehicle accident without injuries was investigated in front of 260 Westbrook Road by Officer James Kenefick at 9:02 a.m. No details of the accident were available at press time.

    • At 7:16 p.m. Trooper Christopher Reid reported that a 40 year-old Deep River woman was operating a 2012 Kia Sorento when she swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, and struck a rock ledge off the right side of the road. No injuries were reported at the scene and no enforcement action was indicated in the report. 

    • A suspicious incident was investigated at 109 Main Street by Trooper Andrew Gwiazda at 4:48 p.m. No details were available at press time.

    Saturday, Nov. 10 - Monday, Nov. 12

    • No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

    Tuesday, Nov. 13

    • A 42 year-old Westbrook man was arrested at 8:22 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Deep River Road and Main Street. The accused was operating a 2009 Toyota Camry when he collided with a 2002 Chrysler Concorde operated by a 42 year-old Westbrook woman who had a 26 year-old Ivoryton man onboard. The accused failed a field sobriety test.
