    4-year-old girl in Groton crash has died

    Groton — A 4-year-old girl injured in a car accident Monday has died, Groton Town Police said in a news release Tuesday.

    The child, identified as Delilah Ali, was flown by a Life Star helicopter from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital to Yale-New Haven Hospital after the accident. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death, the news release said.

    The two-car accident happened at 5:19 p.m. on Gold Star Highway, at the intersections of Packer and Welles roads. Three people in one of the vehicles, including the child, were taken to L+M Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

    The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Groton Town Police Department.
