Groton Town police arrest teenager in Buddington Road home invasion

Groton — A 16-year-old male was charged in Wednesday night’s Buddington Road home invasion in which a woman was beaten with a baseball bat while a second man held other occupants of the residence at gunpoint.

Town police said Friday that the teenager, whose identity was withheld because of his age, was arrested without incident shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday and charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and second-degree larceny. He was to be presented in Juvenile Court on Friday.

Police said the arrest came during an around-the-clock investigation that was continuing.

Officers responded to a report of a home invasion about 10 p.m. Wednesday at Lot 16, Buddington Road. It was reported that two masked men dressed in dark clothing had entered the residence wielding a firearm and a baseball bat.

One woman was struck numerous times with the bat, while others inside the residence were held at gunpoint, police said. The woman was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.

The victim overheard one of the intruders refer to the other one as “Alec or Alex,” police said.

According to the occupants of the residence, the men made off with various gaming systems, an unknown amount of cash and cellphones, fleeing on foot.
