New London — Police are investigating after a female, who was found unconscious and not breathing in a city apartment, later was pronounced dead at Lawrence + Memorial hospital.

The woman was found about 7:03 a.m. Thursday at 2 Union St., Apt. 201, when a 911 call was placed. The woman was transported to L+M, where she was pronounced dead. Police did not release her name or any other details.

Police said they seized evidence at the scene and the investigation is continuing.
