    Groton Town police identify woman in hotel death

    Groton — Town police have identified a woman who was found dead at the Ramada Inn Friday as 31-year-old Jonelle Quamme of Groton.

    The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Saturday and said the cause and manner of death is "pending further studies." 

    First responders received a call at 7:24 a.m. Friday for a report of a person not breathing. Quamme was unresponsive when police, members of the Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department, Groton Ambulance and parmedics from Lawrence & Memorial Hospital arrived. She was presumed dead at the scene.

    The case is being treated as an untimely death and is being investigated by members of the Groton Police Department's Criminal Investigative Division with the assistance of the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London State's Attorney's Office.
