    Missing Groton sailor found safe

Groton — A 24-year-old U.S. Navy sailor, who had been missing for about a week, has been found safe and unharmed in another state, according to police.

Jacob E. Tyler, who is assigned to the Virginia-class attack submarine USS North Dakota, was last seen leaving his house in Groton on the morning of April 17 on his blue 2014 Honda CBR motorcycle. He never showed up for work that day, and police subsequently issued a Silver Alert. A post by his mother on Facebook about him going missing was shared more than 2,200 times.

Police did not specify the state in which Tyler was found, and said there's no criminal aspect to the investigation.

In addition to town police, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Groton City Police Department, Connecticut State Police, Plainfield Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation  assisted during the search.
