    Police: Woman's body found floating in river in New London

    New London — Emergency personnel found the body of an unidentified woman in her mid- to late 50s floating in the water underneath City Pier on Wednesday morning, police said.

    Police said someone reported seeing the body at 10:22 a.m.

    The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Dive Team assisted police and fire personnel with removing the deceased woman from the water. Three emergency responders in a raft could be seen pulling the body from the water to the far side of the pier, which was blocked off by detectives, firefighters and other emergency personnel.

    Police detectives and personnel from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner remain at the scene.

    No further information was immediately available.
