Accident on I-95 in Stonington cleared

Stonington — State police said a weather-related accident is the likely cause of a motor vehicle accident that led to congestion on a stretch of Interstate 95 in Stonington this morning.

At 11:34 a.m., the state Department of Transportation reported an accident involving two vehicles between Exits 91 and 90 on the southbound side of the highway. Traffic was congested for 3.5 miles between Exits 92 and 90 and the right lane was closed, the DOT reported.

State police said the accident has since been cleared and no major injuries were reported. Further details were not immediately available.
