East Lyme police investigating car break-ins

East Lyme — Town police said Monday they are investigating reports of valuables stolen from residents' cars, as well as another report of a stolen vehicle.

Police said they responded to a report of suspicious activity outside a resident's home on Cedar Brook Lane at 12:30 a.m. Monday, and a K-9 team did a search.

Police found items tossed in the road at multiple locations off Chesterfield Road, and identified that the items were taken from vehicles in the area, according to the police report. Multiple residents have told police that their vehicles had been broken into and valuables were stolen.

Police said they are also investigating a report of a vehicle stolen from a home in the same neighborhood around the same time.

Police ask anyone with information or who has seen suspicious activity to call them at (860) 739-5900, or send an anonymous text tip via cellphone by texting keyword ELPD and their message/tip to 847411 (tip411) or by using the East Lyme Police Department app.

Police said they are urging people to lock their cars and keep their keys and valuables secured.
