UPDATED: State police investigating untimely death in Salem
Salem — State police said they are investigating an untimely death of an individual found in the area of Route 85 on Tuesday morning.
Police said the death does not appear to be suspicious and there is no threat to the public.
According to police, Troop K patrol Troopers were sent to the area of Hartford Road about 8:20 a.m. for a report of an unconscious male who was not breathing. When troopers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the individual was deceased.
Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad were asked to respond and they took the lead in investigating, police said.
The individual has not yet been identified and the Office of Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a post-mortem examination on Wednesday, police said.
No further information was available Tuesday evening.
