Pedestrian struck by car in East Lyme

East Lyme -- A pedestrian who was struck by a car exiting a condominium complex Sunday was flown by Life Star helicopter to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Police said at 7:09 a.m. an officer on patrol was flagged down and told that a car had hit a pedestrian on Riverview Drive. Police said the pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital then transferred by Life Star to Yale New Haven.

Riverview Drive was closed for a period of time Sunday morning while accident reconstructionists investigated.

Police said their initial investigation determined that the driver was exiting the complex at 91 Riverview Drive when the pedestrian was struck. The accident remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact police at (860) 739-5900.
