Former NFA campus safety director's court case continued to Sept. 20

Former Norwich Free Academy Campus Safety Director Kevin Rodino is expected to learn Sept. 20 whether he qualifies for accelerated rehabilitation, which would clear his record if he follows conditions set by the court.

Rodino, 61, of 53 Lake View Drive, Preston, was charged Feb. 25 with failure to report suspected child abuse, tampering with evidence, issuing a false statement and interfering with a police officer in connection with NFA’s internal investigation in April 2017 into the initial allegation that former athletic coach Anthony Facchini was having a sexual relationship with a minor student.

Norwich Superior Court Judge Nuala E. Droney continued his case to Sept. 20 to consider and rule on Rodino’s application for accelerated rehabilitation.

Facchini was arrested on Sept. 12, 2018, and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault after police and the state Department of Children and Families learned of a second alleged sexual relationship with an NFA student. Facchini’s next court date is Sept. 12.

Rodino, a retired state trooper, retired from his NFA position June 30 after having been placed on administrative leave in January.
