Two taken to hospital after Groton accident

Groton — Two women were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening Friday afternoon following a "T-bone" crash, or one in which a car struck another car in the driver's door, Poquonnock Bridge Fire Capt. Jason Pollard said.

The accident happened at 1:45 p.m. on Gold Star Highway at Buddington Road, he said. First responders originally thought there was going to be extrication for the driver whose car was hit, but they were able to remove her from the car without extrication tools.

Both she and the other driver were conscious and were taken to the hospital. Pollard said there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Also responding were Groton Ambulance, Lawrence + Memorial paramedics and Groton Town police, Pollard said. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
