Police: North Stonington man threatened to kill ex

A 49-year-old North Stonington man was arrested Wednesday after calling State Police Troop F and informing a dispatcher he was going to kill a woman with whom he'd been in a relationship, according to an incident report from police.

Ronald Jewett was charged with falsely reporting an incident concerning serious physical injury or death, disorderly conduct, first-degree violation of conditions of release, criminal violation of restraining order and second-degree threatening.

Police said that after Jewett on Aug. 10 threatened to go to a residence in North Stonington to kill a woman, troopers immediately went to the residence to ensure she was safe.

With the assistance of Coventry police in Rhode Island, state police learned Jewett was in Biddeford, Maine, police said. The Biddeford Police Department determined Jewett had committed another crime in its jurisdiction and arrested him.

Connecticut state police traveled to Maine on Wednesday to extradite Jewett, who was held on a $150,000 bond, police said.
