New London — St. Francis House and the New London Homeless Hospitality Center will sponsor the annual Homeless Memorial Service on Saturday, a remembrance for the homeless and formerly homeless residents of New London County who have died this year.

The service will begin at 6 p.m. at Church of the City, 250 State St. in New London. The service will include a reading of the names of recently deceased homeless neighbors and process into the church for the service.

The event, commemorated in more than 150 cities and counties across the U.S. on the first day of winter, also serves as a call to action to end homelessness in the city and nation.

The names of those to be remembered this year are Frank Polippo, Derick Rivers, Ralph Mahgalis, Annette Wilson, Linda Urbinati, Elizabeth Pyath, Brian Greenwold, Jeanine Zack, Danny Nicolosi, Peggy Mannly, Jacquline McAffee, Joshua Jakobowski and Darnell Walsh.

Refreshments will be served after the service. All are welcome.
