Florida woman charged in alleged Walmart theft
Norwich — A Tampa, Fla., woman was arrested in connection with an alleged “retail scam” at the Norwich Walmart that police say resulted in the theft of $2,470 worth of merchandise.
Artianna R. Wiggins, 23, was charged Monday with third-degree larceny/shoplifting and organized retail theft. She initially was held on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Feb. 13.
Police say Wiggins was involved in a retail scam at Walmart in which parties allegedly duped a cashier into coming around the counter and being distracted from the register. Another person then printed a fraudulent receipt showing that cash was paid for the items, although no transaction took place.
