Woman charged in stabbing of man, assault of police officer in Groton
Groton — A woman was charged in the stabbing of a man and assault of a police officer Thursday night in Groton, police said.
Alison Nicole Gardner, 24, of 40 Latham St., Groton, was charged with first-degree assault, disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer after allegedly stabbing a man during a domestic dispute and kicking a police officer, according to the City of Groton Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance about 9:30 p.m. at Gardner's home. When they arrived, they found the 46-year-old man with a stab wound to his left side bleeding heavily, police said.
The man was treated on the scene and then taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with injuries that weren't believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Gardner was taken into custody at the scene, where a black tactical knife was recovered. She was taken to the police station where, while being processed, she kicked a police officer, police said.
Gardner was being held on a $100,000 bond and was due to appear Friday in court in New London.
