    Fire displaces eight people from Norwich home

    Norwich — A four-family home was damaged by fire on Monday, displacing eight people.

    The 2:23 p.m. fire occurred at 104 Boswell Ave., where the city fire department arrived to find smoke throughout the building and a fire between the first and second floors. The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes.

    No injuries were reported. The Red Cross is aiding displaced residents with emergency needs and a place to stay.

    The Mohegan Tribal Rapid Intervention Team, East Great Plains Fire Department, Norwich Police and Norwich Public Utilities were called to the scene to assist city firefighters.

    The cause of the fire is under investigation by the city fire marshal’s office.
