Fire severely damages building in Norwich
Norwich — No injuries were reported from a fire in a secondary residential structure and garage at 564 Laurel Hill Road on Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were dispatched for a reported fire in a detached garage shortly before 2:30 p.m., with the first arriving unit from the Laurel Hill volunteer department reporting heavy fire in a detached garage.
Units from the City of Norwich department and a Firefighter Assist and Search Team from the Mohegan Tribal Fire Department were added to the assignment.
Norwich police said the Red Cross assisted two people who were displaced as a result of the fire.
The fire was contained to the secondary structure.
