Man charged with selling fentanyl that led to fatal overdose in Norwich

A Norwich man has been charged with allegedly selling fentanyl disguised as cocaine that led to two overdoses in Norwich, one of which was fatal, police say.

On July 8, officers responded to two separate overdoses in Norwich, one of which caused the death of a 23-year-old man, according to the Norwich Police Department.

The narcotics unit determined through an extensive investigation that 31-year-old Simon Jeudy had sold the fentanyl to both of the people who overdosed. They had been trying to purchase cocaine, police said, but instead were sold fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid.

Jeudy, of 51 Broad St., was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with selling narcotics. He was being held on a $200,000 bond, according to police.
