Man fatally struck by vehicle in Waterford

Waterford — A Chester man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Niantic River Road Monday morning, according to police.

Joshua Molyneux, 21, was struck at 8:57 a.m. He was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and later pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the vehicle, 80-year-old Robert DeSantos of Waterford, was not injured. 

Roads in the area were closed Monday morning as the police department, fire department, ambulance service and paramedics from L+M responded to the scene. The Waterford police Accident Investigation Team and members of the East Lyme Police Accident Investigation Team are investigating.
