1 dead, 2 injured in head-on crash in Montville
Montville — One person was killed and two people were injured Saturday morning in a head-on crash on Route 82, according to police.
Wayne Edgley, 69, of Oakdale was driving east on Route 82 near Green Valley Drive in Montville, when he suddenly crossed onto the wrong side of the road and struck a truck head-on. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Connecticut State Police at Troop E in Montville.
The other driver, a 34-year-old man from Salem, and a 31-year-old woman from Salem who was in the passenger seat, were extracted from the truck and taken to Backus Hospital with injuries that were believed to be minor, police said.
The area of Route 82 where the crash occurred was closed until about 2:30 p.m. The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
