    Norwich police identify two suspects in Taftville armed robbery

    Norwich — A city man was arrested Monday, and a second man incarcerated in Pennsylvania is wanted on charges in connection with a December armed robbery in Taftville.

    Police said their investigation led them to identity the two suspects. Osman Surur, 19, of 22 Terrace Ave. was charged Monday with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny and having a weapon in a motor vehicle. He was held on a $100,000 bond.

    Police said the victim told police two men robbed him at gunpoint and took a cellphone and other items. Police identified Surur as the co-conspirator and the driver of the vehicle used in the robbery.

    The second suspect, Kareem Swinton, is incarcerated in Pennsylvania on a violation of probation charge stemming from the Norwich robbery investigation. His extradition is forthcoming, Norwich police said.

    Swinton will face charges of first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, criminal possession of a firearm and having a weapon in a motor vehicle.
