Life Star helicopter called to scene of Preston crash

Preston — Two people were seriously injured in a one-car accident early Saturday, including a 15-year-old who was flown to the hospital by Life Star medical helicopter.

At 1:44 a.m., state police said a 2004 Honda Accord driven by 20-year-old David Yantin of Willimantic was headed west on Route 2, east of Route 2A in Preston. After failing to negotiate a curve, police said, the car veered into the eastbound and back to the westbound shoulder, where it hit a raised curb and rolled over.

The car hit several trees along the roadside.

Yantin was taken by ambulance to Backus Hospital in Norwich. The 15-year-old passenger was flown to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford. Both sustained serious injuries.

Anyone who witnesses the accident is asked to contact Trooper 1st Class Albert Gorski at (203) 630-5639 or albert.gorski@ct.gov.
