Norwich man faces drug charges after search and seizure at Greeneville home

Norwich — A Greeneville man was arrested on drug charges Wednesday after an investigation conducted by city police detectives and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force led to a search and seizure warrant executed Wednesday, city police said.

Eddie Medina, 48, of 67 Sixth St. was charged at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday with possession of fentanyl, possession of fentanyl with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell.

Medina, who had been released on a $200,000 cash bond on separate drug sales and gun possession charges on Jan. 31, 2020, was held on a $200,000 cash bond on the new charges. He has a court hearing in New London Superior Court on the previous charges. He is scheduled to appear June 3 in Norwich Superior Court on the new charges.

Police said Medina was present when the search and seizure warrant was executed in a garage at 67 Sixth St., which is adjacent to the Greeneville neighborhood playground. Police said they had received numerous complaints of drug sales taking place at the location.

During the search and seizure, police allegedly seized “a significant amount” of fentanyl — 270 bags — and 7.7 grams of crack cocaine. The crack cocaine also was found to be laced with fentanyl, police said.

Anyone with information regarding activities at 67 Sixth St. is asked to contact lead investigating Detective Joel Grispino at (860) 886-5561, ext. 3152, or call the Norwich Police Tip Line at (860) 886-5561, ext. 4.
