N.Y. man sentenced for role in New London-based drug trafficking ring

A New York man was sentenced to 75 months in prison on Wednesday for supplying cocaine to a New London-based drug trafficker.

Geoffrey Gordon, 51, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was sentenced via video conference by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden. His more than 6-year prison sentence will be followed by four years of supervised release.

Authorities said Gordon was supplying drugs to Anthony Whyte, also known as “Jak Mac,” of New London. Whyte was obtaining heroin, fentanyl and cocaine from various sources in Connecticut, New York and elsewhere and distributing the narcotics to others, who then sold the drugs to customers and other street-level drug dealers.

Whyte and several other co-conspirators were arrested on Feb. 21, 2019. At Whyte’s apartment, authorities seized cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and fentanyl pills, 10 firearms and cash. Investigators seized additional narcotics, another firearm and nearly $200,000 in cash from other members of the conspiracy.

Gordon, who was arrested on Aug. 8, 2019, had supplied at least 5 kilograms — that's about 11 pounds — of cocaine to Whyte for redistribution in Connecticut. He has been detained since his arrest. On April 28, 2021, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute, and possession with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Whyte was found guilty earlier this year on numerous charges and awaits sentencing. Twenty-three others charged have been convicted, including Amy Sarcia, who owned 2Wives Brick Oven Pizza in New London and No Anchor Fine Food & Provisions in Noank. She faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of 60 years behind bars. No date has been set yet for their sentencings.
