State police investigate robbery at Griswold bank
Griswold — Police say a man robbed the Eastern Connecticut Savings Bank at 1 Slater Ave. in Jewett City on Tuesday afternoon and fled with "an undisclosed amount of cash."
The man had presented a note demanding money to the bank teller and did not display a weapon, according to police. Officers responded to a report of the robbery at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Police describe the man as possibly in his 50s or 60s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 230 pounds. He was wearing a dark knit hat, a surgical mask, blue flannel shirt with a dark gray T-shirt underneath and gray work pants.
The Troop E Eastern District Major Crime Squad has taken over the investigation, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Justin Clachrie at (860) 848-6532.
