Griswold -- State police are investigating the armed robbery of the Petro Max gas station at 136 Preston Road early Monday morning.

At 4:55 a.m., troopers from the Montville barracks were dispatched to the Petro Max gas station for a report of an armed robbery.

State police said that at approximately 4:52 a.m., a white man dressed in a black sweatshirt, black mask, black gloves and tan pants entered the gas station armed with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The man obtained a small amount of cash from the register and fled in a gold four-door sedan. The suspect is described as approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 180 pounds.
