Ledyard — A portion of Route 12 was temporarily closed following a three-vehicle crash Friday that sent two people to the hospital.

Ledyard police said the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 12 and Clark Lane.

A vehicle traveling south slowed and stopped to turn left on Clark Lane. A second vehicle traveling south rear-ended this vehicle, sending it into the northbound lane where the car clipped a third vehicle traveling northbound, police said.

The two southbound operators were transported to the hospital for observation and treatment of minor injuries.
