Groton — Town police have announced a traffic alert between 9:15 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, in and around the village of Noank for the Tour De Noank Fun Run 5K Road Race.

The Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K Road Race begins at 10 a.m. The starting line of the race is at Esker Point Beach, and the course will take runners through the village of Noank, onto Elm Street then to Brook Street, according to the news release.

"Moderate traffic congestion in the Noank area is anticipated prior to, during and immediately after the event," police said. "Anyone traveling in this area during these times (is) encouraged to use caution and drive safely."

Vehicle traffic in Noank Village and the following roads may experience short delays:

Police said they expect all roads will be clear of event-related congestion by noon.
