    NFL Notes

    • The Chicago Bears borrowed a page from the Indianapolis Colts in end-of-season house cleaning: fire the GM and keep the coach.

Chicago won four division titles and reached the Super Bowl while Jerry Angelo was general manager. The Bears also crumbled in a big way this season.

Now Angelo's out. Coach Lovie Smith, however, will remain.

Angelo was fired Tuesday following a team collapse marked by injuries to Jay Cutler and Matt Forte and a drug scandal involving Sam Hurd.

The Bears also confirmed that offensive coordinator Mike Martz and quarterbacks coach Shane Day won't be back.

Jeff Fisher landed at the Miami Dolphins' complex Tuesday. Now the question is whether the Dolphins will land Fisher.

Fisher interviewed for their head coaching job Tuesday, arriving via owner Stephen Ross' helicopter. He flew off several hours later.

Fisher is believed to be the Dolphins' top choice, and Ross is willing to pay big money, but competition from other NFL teams may be fierce.

    • San Diego Chargers President Dean Spanos has decided to keep coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith despite the team missing the playoffs for the second straight season amid increasing fan discontent.

Spanos made his decision Tuesday, two days after the Chargers finished 8-8 by beating Oakland to keep the Raiders out of the playoffs.

Turner is 49-31 in five years in San Diego but only 3-3 in the playoffs.

    • Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie says coach Andy Reid will return for his 14th season in Philadelphia, though he left open the possibility for changes on the coaching staff.

Lurie called this 8-8 season the "most disappointing" of his ownership. He also used words like "dismal," "unfathomable," "ludicrous," and "terrible" to describe it.

    • Rutgers junior wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will enter the NFL draft after a breakout season with the Scarlet Knights.

Sanu, who shattered both Big East and Rutgers single-season records for receptions this season, finished the year with 115 catches, 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Sanu is a potential first-round pick, although a deep receiver class became a little deeper Monday, after Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon declared for the draft following the Fiesta Bowl.
