    WNBA roundup

    Mystics 79, Fever 64

Rookie Bria Hartley scored 15 points, and Ivory Latta and Tianna Hawkins each added 11 to lead Washington to a victory over Indiana on Friday night.

Washington (1-1) held Indiana (0-3) to a season low 34.8 percent shooting and had a 41-31 rebounding edge.

"I thought we played really good defense from start to finish other than maybe the last 5 minutes of the game," Washington coach Mike Thibault said. "We followed the scouting report better today."

Scoring runs of 10-2 and 12-0 helped Washington take an 18-point lead at 26-10 in the first quarter.

"Confidence-wise it was good for us," Thibault said. "We were able to push the tempo and got a lot of people involved in the offense early so (Indiana) could not lock in on one or two people.”

The Mystics stretched the lead to 58-34 when Hartley hit a jumper with 3:49 to play in the third quarter.

Maggie Lucas scored 12 points to lead Indiana.

Hartley got the starting nod in place of Latta, who had started 35-straight games since joining Washington at the start of last season. Hartley also had five assists.

"She has been playing great, she has been good," Thibault said about Hartley. "Between her, Kara (Lawson) and Ivory we can rotate three pretty good guards."

    Lynx 94, Shock 93

Maya Moore made the winning free throws with 11.8 seconds remaining for the last of her career-high 38 points in Minnesota's victory over Tulsa.

Moore also had 13 rebounds for defending WNBA champion Minnesota (3-0). Moore, the MVP of the WNBA Finals last fall, has topped 30 points in every game this year and leads the league in scoring with a 35.0 average.

Semione Augustus added 23 points to help the Lynx win their eighth straight in Tulsa and 15th in their last 16 games against the Shock.

Skylar Diggins led Tulsa with 21 points.

The Lynx led 35-21 after one quarter, setting a franchise record for points in the opening period, and pushed their advantage to 16 early in the second. They led 60-48 at halftime and held a big lead deep into the third quarter before the Shock battled back.

    Stars 78, Mercury 74

Danielle Robinson had 14 points, nine assists and eight rebounds and San Antonio held off Phoenix.

The Stars (2-1) led by 10 in the fourth, but Phoenix (2-1) got within two.

Jia Perkins, whose steal and layup gave the Stars a 73-63 lead with 5:29 remaining, added 13 points.

DeWanna Bonner hit a 3-pointer to spark a Mercury comeback and Erin Phillips' running 4-footer with 1:05 left cut it to 76-74. The teams traded possessions, but Jayne Appel hit a pair of free throws with 5.3 seconds remaining to secure the win.

Diana Taurasi led the Mercury with 21 points and nine assists. She was 8 of 14 from the field.

Bonner had 15 points, and Brittney Griner added 12 points and nine rebounds for Phoenix.

The Mercury, who at one point of the third quarter were shooting 64 percent from the field, missed 10 of their last 16 shots.
