    Sound Advice 09-22-23

A Welcome Home reader asked whether having an elaborate children’s playset in the backyard may be a hindrance to selling the home in the future, and whether it was better to dismantle and remove it before listing the property for sale. Sotheby’s Realtor Samantha Smith offered guidance:

“The impact of a playset on your home’s value is relatively minor compared to other factors, such as the overall condition of the house, the location, and the real estate market. If you ever decide to sell your home, it’s unlikely that the presence of the playset will significantly affect its resale value, especially when compared to the benefits it offers while you live there, and it may even appeal to some potential buyers.”
