Groton — Fitch opened its volleyball season with a wild 3-2 victory over Waterford on Thursday.

Game scores were 27-25, 22-25, 29-27, 19-25 and 15-6.

Katie Tuohy had 11 digs for the Falcons and combined with Annalyn Cahill for 23 kills, and Isabella Ditmore finished with 30 assists.

Lillian Steinhaus had 30 assists to lead the Lancers, Erica Mugovero had eight digs and Emerson Lane, Emma Hall and Marina Colonis combined for 27 kills.

In other matches:

• Bacon Academy opened its season with an impressive 3-0 victory over reigning Class S champion Lyman Memorial. Game scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-17. Leah Brown had six blocks and five kills for the Bobcats while Meghan Walsh added 10 kills, Carolyn Baehr had six assists, Kiera Stewart 15 assists, Jill Filloramo four aces and Grace Gorreck four kills and three aces. Arianna Garcia had 14 digs for Lyman while Kassidy LaTour finished with three aces, eight kills and nine digs, Carlee DeRoehn had six assists and four digs, and Mia Attardi had seven digs.

• Montville blanked Killingly 25-22, 25-20, 25-14. Reagan Buscetto had 15 assists and six kills, Ava Collins had four kills and three blocks and Side Zoie Farrarhad had five kills, six digs and two aces for Montville.

• Plainfield defeated Norwich Tech 25-19, 25-12 and 25-11 in a non-conference match. Caitlyn Flynn had five digs and Kaylee Gray four digs and three kills for the Warriors.

• Old Lyme dropped its opener to Morgan in the Shoreline Conference. Game scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-15. Jamie Bucior had 18 digs and four aces for the Wildcats while Grace Phaneuf finished with 14 digs and nine assists and Peighton Andrew added six kills.
