    H.S. roundup: Bacon hands Waterford girls first soccer loss

    Colchester – Alyssa Blanchette converted a penalty kick in the 32nd minute as Bacon Academy handed Waterford its first loss, defeating the Lancers 1-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I girls’ soccer match on Monday.

    Liz Glover made 22 saves in goal for the Bobcats (3-1, 1-1). Waterford is 3-1, 0-1.

    In other matches:

    • Finnella O’Keefe scored both goals as Stonington defeated Ledyard 2-0 in an ECC Division II match. Maya Terwilliger added an assist for the Bears (4-1, 2-0), who handed the Colonels (3-2, 1-1) their first loss of the season.

    • Sophia Wooten scored three goals as Griswold defeated Tourtellotte 4-1. Madilyn Wooten also scored for the Wolverines (1-2) while goalie Hannah Service made nine saves. Taylor Morales scored for the Tigers.

    • Jada Cheung scored two goals while Allie Kondash added a goal and an assist as Montville rolled to a 5-1 win over Wheeler. Lily Tomczik and Nicole Hudson also scored goals for Montville (2-2) while Kate Bowman and Teagan Caviness added assists. Mya Comeau, assisted by Katie Pierce, scored for the Lions (2-3).

    • Lyman Memorial and Coventry played to a scoreless draw in a match that was called after 52 minutes due to weather issues. Phoebe Carpenter made three saves in goal for the Bulldogs (3-0-1) while Magda Carpenter had a shot carom off the post just minutes before the game was stopped.

    • Skylar Frost scored four goals, all in the second half, as Williams School defeated Harvey 4-1. Amaya Butler and Katelyn Harvey anchored the defense for the Blues (2-0).

    Shorleline Conference rivals Old Lyme and Old Saybrook played to a 1-1 overtime draw. Callie Bass, assisted by Aggie Hunt, gave the Wildcats (2-2-1, 2-1-1) a 1-0 lead early in the second half before Breleigh Cooke’s unassisted goal tied it for Old Saybrook eight minutes later. Olivia Kelly made five saves for Old Lyme.

    Boys’ soccer

    • Michael George, Zach Lamitie and Roman McElwee scored goals as Norwich Tech defeated Cheney Tech 3-0 in the Connecticut Technical Conference. Hunter Jackson assisted on Lamitie’s goal for the Warriors (3-0), who have yet to allow a goal.

    • Cody DeLaurentis and Calvin Neff scored goals in Williams’ 4-2 loss to Harvey. The Blues are 1-2.

    Volleyball

    • Carolyn Place had nine aces and seven kills to highlight East Lyme’s 25-11, 25-16 and 25-6 win over Plainfield. Chloe Vaglio added nine kills for the Vikings (2-2).

    • NFA rolled to a 25-11, 25-17 and 25-12 win over New London. Nyarah Dudley had 20 digs and four service points for the Whalers (0-4) while Kmara Royster finished with nine points, one ace, three kills and two blocks, Hildalyn Joran had 15 digs, Nalyce Dudley three kills, two blocks and six digs, Lizvalerie Velez one ace, six assists and six digs and Serenity Lancaster two kills.

    • Kassidy LaTour had 11 kills, nine assists and six digs to lead Lyman Memorial to a 25-20, 25-18 and 25-19 win over Fitch. Carlee DeRoehn added seven aces and nine kills for the Bulldogs (5-1) while Arianna Garcia had 10 digs and Jenny Lopez eight assists. Fitch is 3-2.

    • Coginchaug defeated Old Lyme 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19 in the Shoreline Conference. Whitney Barbour had five kills and Grace Phaneuf seven assists for the Wildcats (1-3, 1-3).

    • Lillian Steinhaus had 21 assists to highlight Waterford’s 25-11, 25-16 and 25-21 win over Wheeler. Emerson Lane and Colleen Corman added seven kills apiece for the Lancers (3-3) while Mia Petrini had six digs and six aces and Brielle Kenney had four kills. Addison Stanley had six blocks and Anna Ruggeri 10 assists for the Lions (0-4).

    • Abby Ulrich had nine aces and two kills as Norwich Tech defeated Grasso Tech 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20 in the CTC. Kaylee Gray added seven aces, four kills and three digs for the Warriors (2-3, 2-1) while Antonia Orbe had six service points and one kill and Jada Muirhead seven points and three kills for the Eagles (0-3, 0-3).

    Ledyard defeated Montville 3-1, winning by game scores of 25-11, 25-14, 18-25 and 25-8. Grace Hadash had 11 kills and six aces for the Colonels (2-2) while Megan Tabraham had seven aces, Bryleigh Johnson 12 digs and Layla Lasisomphone 12 assists. Zoie Farrar led Montville (1-4) with five digs, four aces, three kills and three blocks while Grace Galvin finished with 10 digs, Reagan Buscetto four digs, three aces and one kill, and Ava Collins had five blocks, one dig and one kill.
