Local college roundup: Mitchell names Ashley Snow women’s lacrosse coach

New London — Mitchell College athletic director Matt Finlayson announced the hiring of Ashley Snow as the Mariners’ new women’s lacrosse coach on Tuesday.

Snow joins Mitchell after spending last season as an assistant coach at Greensboro College in North Carolina.

The Mariners went 1-13 in 2022, but graduated only three seniors.

"Through the entire process, Coach Snow's experience, vision for the student-athlete experience, recruiting track record and positive approach to coaching were all very impressive,“ Finlayson said in a release. ”We are thrilled for her to grow and lead the women's lacrosse program."

Snow, a native of Collinsville, Texas, graduated from Division II Oklahoma Baptist in 2016. She scored 13 goals and added two assists as a senior when the program reached the Great American Conference semifinals in only its second year of existence.

"I am excited to join the team and get things rolling with Mitchell women's lacrosse," Snow said. "We are a seasoned group with several returning key players, while we also have young and hungry underclassmen who are ready to go. The team is full of high energy and enthusiasm, and I can't wait to see what all we can accomplish in the near future."
