    Local roundup: Murray leads Conn College to victory

    New London — David Murray scored a career-high 27 points as Connecticut College beat Bates 74-71 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s basketball game on Sunday.

    Murray, a 6-foot-7 junior, banked in a shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime at 63-63. Conn (11-4, 2-0) scored the first seven points in overtime and held on for the win.

    Cam Schainfeld had 13 points and four assists, Andrew Hartel scored 10 points and Murray had six rebounds for the Camels. Steph Baxter scored 21 for Bates (5-8, 0-1).

    Women’s basketball

    • Conn College lost to Bates 59-35 in a NESCAC game. Rebecca Oberman-Levin scored 15 points and blocked three shots and Aislinn McMahon had seven rebounds for the Camels (4-9, 0-2).

    H.S. girls’ basketball

    • Marissa Perkins scored 13 points and had 13 rebounds as Wheeler beat Montville 32-29 on Saturday. Abby Butremovic had 12 points and five rebounds for Wheeler (2-4). Jada Cheung had 16 points and Ava Collins scored eight for Montville (1-5).

    Men’s hockey

    • Conn College lost to No. 7 Endicott 2-1 on Saturday night. Endicott (11-1) has won 10 straight games. Brett Moccia scored for Conn with 1:50 left in the game. Jake Hughes assisted on the goal and Cam Hernandez made 15 saves for the Camels (2-9).
