    Local roundup: No. 7 Bacon Academy girls keep rolling

    Colchester — Seventh-ranked Bacon Academy remained unbeaten with a 67-28 non-conference girls’ basketball victory over Amistad on Monday night.

    The Bobcats (13-0) led 20-5 after one quarter and were in cruise control the rest of the game.

    Marissa Nudd scored a game-high 24 points for Bacon and also had eight rebounds and three assists, while Katelyn Novak finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals, Alannah Baehr had 13 points (three 3-pointers), 11 rebounds and five assists, and Skyelyn Schoen-Rene had 11 points and five steals.

    College wrestling

    • Coast Guard finished second in the New England Wrestling Association Duel Meet Championship on Sunday at Springfield College. The Bears fell to No. 2 Johnson & Wales 23-15 in the final.

    No. 22 Coast Guard opened the day with a 43-0 win over Bridgewater State, beat Southern Maine 46-0 in the quarterfinals and beat Castleton 23-12 in the semifinals.

    Chase Randall (133 pounds), Joe Chapman (165), David McCullough (184), Coy Spooner (197) and Carl DiGiorgio (285) picked up wins for the Bears against Johnson & Wales. Randall, Chapman, McCullough and Spooner each went 4-0.

    H.S. fencing

    • East Lyme went 7-0 in a match with Bacon Academy and St. Bernard on Saturday. The Vikings beat Bacon 8-1 and St. Bernard 7-2 in boys’ epee, beat both teams 7-2 in girls’ epee, topped St. Bernard 8-1 and Bacon 7-2 in girls’ foil and beat St. Bernard 6-3 in boys’ foil.

    St. Bernard beat Bacon 5-4 in girls’ epee and 5-4 in girls’ foil and Bacon beat the Saints 5-4 in boys’ epee.
