    Local roundup: Conn College falls to Hamilton

    Clinton, N.Y. — Hamilton outscored Connecticut College 46-30 in the second half to win 72-62 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s basketball game on Sunday.

    David Murray had 13 points and nine rebounds, Elias Espinosa scored 16 and Andrew Hartel had 15 points and five rebounds for Conn (13-9, 4-4). Teja Singh scored 23 points for Hamilton (15-7, 6-2).

    Women’s basketball

    • Conn College lost to Hamilton 45-36 in a NESCAC game. Jaycie Rojik had 16 points and three steals for Conn (7-14, 1-7). Taylor Lambo scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds for Hamilton (11-9, 4-4).

    H.S. hockey

    • Branford scored the last three goals of the game and beat the Eastern CT Eagles 6-5 on Saturday night. Gavin Casagrande scored twice and Owen Pazzaglia and Drew Sager had an goal and an assist each for the Eagles. Cam McCollum made 20 saves, Nick Rembish had a goal and Spencer Sherman and Luke Cramer had assists for the Eagles (5-6).

    Men’s hockey

    • Rocco Testa-Basi scored two goals and had an assist as Conn College beat Tufts 6-4 in a NESCAC game on Saturday night. Younghoon Choi scored twice, Brett Moccia had a goal and an assist and Steven Ardagna had two assists for Conn.

    Cam Fernandez made 18 saves, Sean Detloff had a goal and Seth Stadheim had an assist for Conn (5-15, 2-12).

    Sun sign Herbert Harrigan

    • The Connecticut Sun has signed Mikiah (Kiki) Herbert Harrigan to a training camp contract. Mikiah Herbert Harrigan was selected sixth overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2020 WNBA Draft out of the University of South Carolina.

    She appeared in 21 contests for the Lynx averaging 3.8 points and 2.3 rebounds during her rookie campaign. Prior to the 2021 season, the 6-2 forward was traded to Seattle in a four-way trade between Dallas, New York and Minnesota. Herbert Harrigan appeared in one contest for Seattle in 2021 before sitting out the season due to pregnancy. In 2022, she signed a training camp contract with the Storm, but was waived prior to the season.

    H.S. boys’ fencing

    • Host NFA went swept East Lyme and New London on Saturday in foil, beating East Lyme 5-4 and New London 6-3. New London beat East Lyme 5-4. In epee, New London beat NFA 8-1 and East Lyme 5-4 while NFA beat East Lyme 7-2.

    H.S. girls’ fencing

    • New London beat host NFA 8-1 and East Lyme 5-4 in foil on Saturday while NFA beat East Lyme 6-3 and beat East Lyme 7-2 in epee.
