Jacob Lin of Fitch co-op wins Class L 200 IM championship
West Hartford — Jacob Lin of the Fitch coopertive program captured the 200-yard individual medley during Thursday night’s CIAC Class L swimming and diving championships at Cornerstone Pool.
Lin, a sophomore, finished in 1 minute, 53.94 seconds and helped the Falcons finish eighth in the team standings with 286 points. New Canaan won the team title with 709.
It was a big night for Lin, who added a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (51.34) and helped two relay teams medal.
Lin joined Evan Hespeler, Samuel Ainscough and Mike Urgo to finish second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:28.46), and the same four swimmers placed fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:40.22).
Urgo, a senior, also placed in two individual events. He finished third in the 100 freestyle (47.64) and fifth in the 50 free (21.95).
• In the Class M meet at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, East Lyme’s Eric Wang placed in two events as the Vikings finished 14th in the team standings with 176 points (Pomperaug won with 834).
Wang was seventh in the 50 freestyle (22.92) and added a seventh in the 100 free (50.57). He also teamed with Ken Chen, Eduordo Morcos and Albert Zhu to place eighth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.56).
