    H.S. tennis: Stonington boys, Ledyard girls clinch ECC divisional championships

    Groton — Matthew Turrisi won a pair of tiebreakers and Chase Donnarummo pulled out a three-set win as Stonington clinched the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys’ tennis title with a 5-2 win over Fitch on Monday.

    Turrisi won his tiebreakers 7-5, 7-1 at No. 2 singles and Donnarummo won 6-2, 4-6 and 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Bears (9-1, 4-0), who also picked up wins from Mason Conlon at No. 4 singles and the doubles teams of Conrad Tobiassen-Tucker Callahan and Owen Grant-Peter Schoenecker.

    Reigning ECC singles champion Will Albrikes won at No. 1 singles for the Falcons (10-2, 3-2) as did the No. 2 doubles team of Morgan Fisher-Nick Sousa.

    In other matches:

    • Old Lyme received three forfeits and cruised to a 6-1 victory over Old Saybrook. Cooper Munson and Griffin McGlinchey won singles matches for the Wildcats (13-0) as did the No. 1 doubles team of Micah Bass-Will Danes.

    • Ledyard swept the doubles matches to defeat Woodstock Academy 5-2 in an ECC Division II match. The teams of Sebastian Fieldsend-Malloch Allison, Clark Ysewyn-Hendrick Trieu and Luke Anderson-Hunter Divicenzo won for the Colonels (6-4, 3-0) as did singles players Ben Fieldsend and Ronan Allison.

    Girls

    • Ledyard clinched the ECC Division III championship with a 6-1 win over St. Bernard. Sarah Bailey, Sarah Banach and Kylee Gill won singles matches for the Colonels (8-2, 6-0), as the the doubles teams of Alanah Maranzano-Katie Rezendes, Cassie Rice-Rachel Kulterman and Marissa DePaul-Caitrin Cassidy Blake Murray won at No. 2 singles for the Saints (3-7, 3-2).

    • Stonington completed a perfect run through ECC Division I with a 7-0 win over East Lyme. Grace Duggan, Maddie Gonzalez, Emily Fulling and Misha Lewandowski won singles matches for the Bears (8-0, 6-0), who host Old Lyme on Tuesday in a battle of unbeatens and reigning state champions. Stonington also picked up doubles wins from Katya Snegovskikh-Lauren Buckley, Danielle Liston-Marina Lewandowski and Gwen McGugan-Angelina Williams. East Lyme is 3-7, 0-6).

    • Sam Tan rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 1 singles as Old Lyme won its 58th straight match with a 7-0 win over Old Saybrook. Elaina Morosky, Callie Bass and Katherine Zhang added singles wins for the Wildcats (15-0) as did the doubles teams of Livie Bass-Alexis Fenton, Aggie Hunt-Beatrice Hunt and Izzy Reynolds-Natalie Buckley, which didn last a game.

    • Norwich Free Academy swept the four singles matches to defeat Lyman Memorial 4-3 in an ECC Division II match. Leeya Fabry, Joannu Wu, Gabrielle McLead and Katie Lavoie were victorious for the Wildcats (4-8, 2-4), while Lyman (4-5, 3-3) got wins from the doubles teams of Amelia Wentworth-Naomi Duhaime, Kendall Breault-Skylar Hoffmann and Natalie Tingley-Teagan Wertz.

    • New London defeated Montville 4-3 in an ECC Division III match, earning a forfeit at No. 4 singles and then sweeping the three doubles matches with Delande Forestal-Cheadlin Petit-Frere, Nakayla Isaac-Jayla Taylor and Michaella Skyers-Carolyn Barbosa winning for the Whalers (4-6, 4-3). Allie Kondash, Jess Hochdorfer and Anneliese Beauchene were straight-set singles winners for Montville (0-8, 0-6).
