    H.S. roundup: St. Bernard’s Light pitches perfect game as Saints beat Old Saybrook 3-0

    Montville — Martin Light threw a perfect game, striking out nine, to lift St. Bernard past Old Saybrook 3-0 in a nonconference baseball game on Monday.

    The Saints scored a run in the third and two in the fifth to take control.

    Zion Fraser had an RBI triple and Joe Basso added an RBI single — both with two outs. Light added a single and scored two runs for St. Bernard (15-2).

    In other games:

    • East Lyme’s Joe Stawski pitched a complete game three-hitter in a 4-2 win over Norwich Free Academy in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I action. Stawski struck out 10 while Blake Biggs had a hit and two RBI and Gavin O’Brien had a home run for the Vikings (15-3, 5-1). Logan Deshefy, Joel Tiburcio and Chris Southworth had hits for the Wildcats (8-10, 1-5).

    • Waterford scored five runs in the first inning and went on to beat Fitch 8-2 in an ECC Division I game. Jaden Reyes had a single, two doubles and scored three runs while winning pitcher Anthony Jessuck went the distance, giving up four hits, for the Lancers (11-8, 3-3). Luca Ursini drove in both runs for the Falcons (9-9. 3-3) with a single and sacrifice fly.

    • A.J. Blanchette had Bacon Academy’s only hit — a one-out single in the second inning — in a 16-0 loss to Valley Regional in a nonconference game that went six innings. The Bobcats are 10-7.

    Girls’ lacrosse

    • Junior Maddie McLeod scored her 200th career goal and senior Jess English recorded her 100th career caused turnover during Ledyard’s 17-5 win over New London in an ECC Division III game. McLeod finished with five goals for the Colonels (14-1, 8-0) while Helena Robinson added three goals and three assists, Tatianna Irizarry three goals and one assist, Delaney Gortner two goals and two assists, Mackenzie Boyer one goal and one assist, and Baleigh Johnson, Tiana Winkelman and Jess Dudley each scored a goal. Prince Lisa Ombtosho, Kayla Ferrryman, Raelyn Lopez, Malahika Paulo and Keshvi Patel had one goal apiece for the Whalers (0-11, 0-7).

    • Reagan Buscetto had four goals and two assists while Lily Tomczik scored five goals and Kylie Spreng added three in Montville’s 16-4 win over Griswold/Norwich Tech. Karissa Hochdorfer had two goals and Bella Estelle and Paige Terris each had one for Montville (7-7). Griswold fell to 5-9.

    • Sophia Gouveia scored seven goals to lift Wheeler past Rocky Hill 12-11. Katie Pierce had a goal and two assists while Ava Davino, Katheryn Delgrosso and Ellen Anderson each had a goal for the Lions (7-5). Goalie Anna Barber had 10 saves.

    • Ella Curtiss Reardon had three goals and two assists for Old Lyme in a 12-7 loss to North Branford in the Shoreline Conference. Sydney Goulding, Kelly Sheehan, Grace Ferman and Alexis Antonellis each had a goal for the Wildcats (10-5, 8-3).

    Boys’ lacrosse

    • Mason Bussman scored three goals in Old Lyme’s 7-6 overtime loss to North Branford in the Shoreline Conference. John Buckley had two goals and Eli Ryan added one for the Widlcats (3-12, 2-9).

    • Landon Traylor scored three goals and Connor Fishkin added two for Norwich Tech/Windham Tech in an 11-7 nonconference loss to Law. Wess Drowne and Roman McElwee also scored for Norwich Tech (6-7).

    Boys’ golf

    • Ian Main shot a 46 to win at the No. 2 spot and Chad Planeta (51) won at No. 5 in Grasso Tech’s 5-2 loss to Plainfield at Foster Country Club. The Eagles are 2-8-1.

    • Carter McGlinchey shot a team-best 50 to lead Old Lyme past Waterford, 212-218. Manu Geronimo had a 51 for the Wildcats (1-11). Lucas Vincenti had a team-low 50 for the Lancers (2-10).

    • Connor Tavares shot a 40 to win his match but Stonington lost to Killingly 6-1 in an ECC Division II match. The Bears fell to 9-4 overall, 4-2 in the division. Killingly’s Cameron Seiffert was the medalist with a 1-over par 36 at Connecticut National Golf Course for Killingly, which clinched its 10th straight divisional title. Killingly also beat East Lyme 7-0 as Jack Bucko shot a 36 for the Vikings (10-2).

    Girls’ golf

    • Norwich Free Academy improved to 12-1 overall and 11-0 in the ECC by beating Stonington, finishing with a 203 to 223 edge in strokes. Caroline Goderre shot a 45 to earn medalist honors for the Wildcats and Rianna Cavanna had a 50. Maizey Alu and Rory Risley led the Bears (3-3, 3-3) with a 53.

    Boys’ volleyball

    • Windsor outlasted NFA 3-2. Game scores were 25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 18-25 and 15-9. Gage Hinkley had 20 kills, three blocks, seven digs and two aces for the Wildcats (12-6) while Jhon Lopez Choc finished with 29 digs and one kill. Evan Keith had 11 blocks one kill and one dig and Keegan Johnston had eight kills, 11 digs and an ace.
