H.S. tennis: Doubles sweep leads Montville boys past Ledyard
Ledyard — Montville swept doubles play and beat Ledyard 4-3 in a boys’ tennis match on Wednesday.
The teams of Danny Zhong-Ryan Yang, Nathan Dhillon-Jake Bowman and Darren Chen-Ryan Hochdorfer won the Montville (8-6) as did singles players Brendan Duhamel.
Ledyard (9-8) got wins from Ben Fieldsend, Sebastian Fieldsend and Malloch Allison.
In other matches:
• Stonington beat Guilford 7-0 in a nonleague match. Brady O’Neil won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and teammates Matthew Turrisi, Chase Donnarummo and Jackson Conlon also won their matches for the Bears (14-1). The doubles teams of Conrad Tobiassen-Tucker Callahan, Sam Lund-Joshua Lord and Owen Grant-Peter Schoenecker also won their matches.
Girls
• Ledyard beat New London 6-1 to finish Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II play unbeaten. Sarah Bailey, Claire Fenaughty, Sarah Banach and Kylee Gill won their matches for the Colonels (12-3, 8-0) with Lia Day-Shelby Morrison and Marissa DePaul-Caitrin Cassidy adding doubles wins.
• Stonington completed the regular season at 13-1 with a 7-0 win over Woodstock. Grace Duggan, Danielle Liston, Marcella Hamm and Bethany Schoenecker won matches for the Bears as did the teams of Katya Snegovskikh-Lauren Buckley, Marina Lewandowski-Misha Lewandowski and Gwen McGugan-Angelina Williams.
• Old Lyme remained undefeated with a 7-0 win over East Lyme. Sam Tan, Elaina Morosky, Katherine Zhang and Callie Bass won their matches for the Wildcats (18-0), who have won 61 straight matches. The doubles teams of Livie Bass-Alexis Fenton, Aggie Hunt-Beatrice Hunt and Izzy Reynolds-Natalie Buckley also won.
• Waterford improved to 10-4 with a 7-0 win over Woodstock on Tuesday. Sarah Hage, Michelle Liu, Aba Tinnerello and Maria Hathaway won singles match and the teams of Hazel Siu-Sophia Sit, Maple Siu-Bri Kilcommons and Ella Briggs-Grace Stilphen won doubles matches for the Lancers.
