Katonah, N.Y. — Williams School upset top-seeded Harvey School 12-11 in sudden death overtime to win its second straight Housatonic Valley Athletic League boys’ lacrosse tournament championship on Thursday night.

The third-seeded Blues overcame an 8-4 third quarter deficit to tie the game on a goal by freshman Henry Champagne with just over a minute remaining in regulation, then needed just 20 seconds to end things in overtime when Cody DeLaurentis won the faceoff and took a return pass from Tyler Gagliardi to score the game winner.

It marked the only time that Williams, which avenged a pair of regular-season losses to Harvey, led in the game.

Gagliardi finished with three goals and three assists for the Blues, who finish 10-3, while Brendan Li and Baker Katko each had two goals and two assists, DeLaurentis and Brian Li each scored twice and goalie Henry Gallagher made 26 saves. DeLaurentis also won 10 faceoffs.

In other games:

• Anthony Ballestrini had five goals and two assists while Logan Jenkins added three goals and four assist as NFA rolled to a 16-3 win over Montville on Thursday night. Tommy Brunelli, Wyatt Woodcock and Cortland Beetle added one goal and one apiece for the Wildcats (10-5) while C.J. Frank, Conor Dempsey, Taegon Calouro, Nick Winton and Gavin Jenkins each scored one goal.

• North Haven built a 6-2 halftime lead and held on for a 7-6 win over Waterford on Thursday night. Ayden Bousquet scored four goals for the Lancers (10-6) while Jackson Huta scored twice, Tarance Silvla and Logan Peabody each had an assist and goalie Dylan McCarthy made eight saves.

• Woodstock outlasted St. Bernard/Wheeler 9-7 on Thursday despite three goals by Ben Howes and one goal and four assists by Marc Sauchuk. Noah Courter, Jimmy Niles and Skyler Wilson each added a goal for the Saints (5-10) and Johannes Zachhuber stopped 14 shots in goal.

Girls

• Bacon Academy senior Maddox Burton became the program’s all-time points leader with 222 while Katie Graham and Anna LeGault each passed 100 career points during Thursday’s 18-7 win over Fitch, the Bobcats’ eighth straight.

Burton finished with three goals and six assists for Bacon (11-4) while Graham had three goals and one assist and LeGault finished with one goal three assists. Marissa Nudd led the Bobcats with seven goals and one assist while Camryn Grasso added two goals and one assist and Neely Hart and Cate Grasso each scored a goal.

• Rocky Hill defeated Wheeler 11-5 in a nonleague game on Thursday night. Carissa Browne, Katheryn Delgrosso, Stella Mastroianni, Ellen Anderson and Katie Pierce each scored a goal for the Lions (8-6) while Sophia Gouveia had an assist and goalie Anna Barber made 12 saves.

ECC Shoreline pairings set

• The Eastern Connecticut Conference and Shoreline Conference finalized pairings for next week’s postseason tournaments.

The six-team ECC girls’ tournament begins on Monday with No. 3 Ledyard hosting No. 6 Bacon Academy (5 p.m.) and No. 5 Waterford visiting No. 4 Wheeler (3:30 p.m. in the first round.

Ledyard will host the semifinals on Tuesday with top-seeded East Lyme facing the lowest remaining at 5 p.m. and No. 2 Stonington playing the highest remaining seed at 7:15, and the championship game is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Waterford.

The four-team ECC boys’ tournament begins on Tuesday with East Lyme hosting the semifinals. Second-seedd Stonington meets No. 3 NFA at 5 p.m. and No. 1 East Lyme faces No. 4 Waterford at 7:15. The title game will be held on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Waterford.

Both ECC championship games will be streamed live via GameDay on theday.com.

Old Lyme qualified for the four-team Shoreline girls’t tournament. The Wildcats are the third seed and will visit No. 2 Old Saybrook on Tuesday at 4 p.m. No. 1 North Branford hosts No. 4 Haddam-Killingworth in the other semifinal at 5 p.m., with the title game set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Indian River Complex in Clinton.

Old Lyme did not qualify for the boys’ tournament.
