Sun face quick turnaround with road game on Thursday at Lynx

The Connecticut Sun didn’t have much time to enjoy Tuesday night’s WNBA 81-78 victory over the Indiana Fever at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The Sun (4-1) boarded a plane Wednesday and will visit the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday (8 p.m., NBCSB) at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Connecticut, which swept last year’s season season 3-0, face a Minnesota team which has struggled to an 0-5 start. They are led by former UConn All-American Napheesa Collier, who is averaging 16.6 points per game for the Lynx.

Another ex-UConn star, Tiffany Hayes, had her best game since joining the Sun in an offseason trade with with the Atlanta Dream. Hayes scored 22 points, including two clutch free throws with 9.4 seconds remaining, as Connecticut hung on to beat the Fever.

The Sun also had big games from Brionna Jones and Alyssa Thomas. Jones had 19 points and 11 rebounds while Thomas finished with 13 points, 17 rebounds and seven assists.
